Instant Translation ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that translates text you select on webpages. This privacy policy explains what data the Extension processes and how it is used.

Data we process

• Selected text: When you highlight text on a webpage, that text is sent to third-party translation services to generate a translation. It is not stored permanently by the Extension.
• Settings: Your target language, enabled/disabled state, provider choice, and optional API keys are stored locally in Chrome sync storage on your device.

Third-party translation services

Depending on your settings, selected text may be sent to:

• Google Translate (translate.googleapis.com)
• Google Cloud Translation API (translation.googleapis.com) — only if you provide your own API key
• DeepL (api-free.deepl.com or api.deepl.com) — only if you provide your own API key
• MyMemory (api.mymemory.translated.net) — fallback service
• Lingva (lingva.ml) — fallback service

These services have their own privacy policies. The Extension has no backend server operated by the developer. This website only hosts the privacy policy and product information — it does not receive or store your selected text.

What we do not do

• We do not sell your data.
• We do not collect browsing history or page URLs.
• We do not use your data for advertising or profiling.
• We do not load or execute remote code in the Extension.

Data retention

Selected text is processed only at the moment you trigger a translation. The Extension may keep up to 250 recent translations in memory temporarily to speed up repeat lookups; this cache is cleared when the background service worker restarts.

Children's privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes.
